specifications of Viton® diaphragms |
The word Viton ® identifies the FPM fluorinated rubber consisting of mixed polymers composed of highly fluorinated hydrocarbons. The fluorinated elastomers are non-flammable and they withstand top temperatures, ozone, oxygen, mineral oils, synthetic hydraulic liquids, fuels, aromatic compounds, many solvents and organic chemical agents.
They ensure good performance when you need to use aggressive fluids. They can tolerate fluids changes and therefore they are very versatile.
The high price and the elasticity at low temperatures and at room temperature, not always satisfactory, are the disadvantages of this kind of rubber. The fluorinated rubber is mainly used for the manufacturing of seals and forged parts that must withstand temperatures up to 200°C and that come into contact with lubricants and chemical agents.
Main properties:
> Mean resistance to tear
> Poor resistance to wear
> Limited flexibility
> Excellent heat resistance
> Excellent resistance to ozone, aging and weather conditions
> Excellent resistance to chemical agents
